Nablus, Palestine Telecommunication Company is sponsoring a contemporary art Exhibition entitled “Visit Palestine: A journey through Contemporary Art” at Walls gallery of the Sheraton Hotel, Amman to continue until June 29, 2005. This lies within Palestine Telecommunication Company Ltd (PALTEL)’s strategy to connect with the Palestinian people and to encourage creativity and excellence.
The Exhibition of selected elite Palestinian artists living in Palestine and abroad: Nabil Anani, Taysir Barakat, Sulaiman Mansour, Khalid Hourani, Vera Tamari, Ahmad Kanaan, Ibrahim Nobani and others including Palestinian artists from France and the United States aims at introducing a number of artists’ production to reflect the progress in Palestinian art and culture over the years.
Board of directors, heads of departments and company staff in addition to several Jordanian officials participated in the opening ceremony and the press conference.
Palestine Telecommunication Company’s sponsorship of this exhibition expresses the attention it pays to creativity and distinction in all aspects of Palestinian life. Palestine Telecommunication Company’s supports Palestinian art as well as other important aspects of the Palestinian life. Palestine Telecommunication Company believes that art is a door to the outside world and it reflects the ancient roots and genuine origin of the Palestinian culture. In addition to that, Paltel will always support Palestinian artists especially that they express the realities of Palestinian life to the world in a highly creative manner.
It is worth mentioning that Palestine Telecommunication Company has previously sponsored similar events such as Palestine Telecommunication Company Virtual Gallery project in cooperation with BirZeit University on March 17, 2005 where Palestine Telecommunication Company allocated over US$158,000 in support the three year project. The project is a web site dedicated to Palestinian art history, the first of its kind, to be the official reference for educational material for BirZeit University as well as other local, regional and international universities. Through this website, students can browse through various international art websites. It will also provide a listing of current art exhibitions and shows in Palestine and elsewhere enabling art enthusiasts to keep up with the latest events with the objective of closer communication among artists and art establishments inside and outside of Palestine. This constitutes part of Palestine Telecommunication Company’s endeavors to encourage electronic education.
After the establishment of the Palestinian Telecommunications Group, Palestine Telecommunication Company played a prominent role, locally and regionally especially after announcing profits for the first quarter of 2005. Participating in the meetings of the World Economic Forum in the Dead Sea reflected Paltel’s successful strategy tools.
